The Valkenburg Christmas Market is without a doubt one of the most unique Christmas markets in the Netherlands, and perhaps in all of Europe. What makes this market special is the setting: the Christmas market is located largely underground, in the famous marl caves of Valkenburg. This creates an enchanting atmosphere where you wander through tunnels full of attractively lit stalls, surrounded by impressive murals and works of art from Roman times.
In 2024, Valkenburg's Christmas market promises to become even more magical with new additions to the Grottentocht, including interactive light shows and a special Christmas exhibition in the Municipal Cave. In addition, there is the annual Santa's Village above ground, where you can enjoy live music, crafts and winter delicacies. Also, don't forget to check out the Parade of Santa Claus, a spectacular event you won't want to miss.
