PMDG OOMs

Just wondering if anybody else is getting the random out of memory problems with PMDGs MD11 , all of a sudden ive started getting random OOMs . Ive tryed everything but only get it now and again with PMDGs MD11 .

I noticed this message is a bit old. But are you still havin the OOM's? If so what are your system spec's?

Hey there, Lee.

I'm with Rich...give us your specs and we can begin to sort it out.

Previous to my adding the PMDG MD-11, ALL my OOM errors came from duplicate scenery textures (I was not checking it often enough in FSManager). My first flight with the MD-11 resulted in an OOM error. The first thing I did was check duplicate textures and found 2. I deleted the offenders but never flew the MD-11 after that...to see if it helped (poor Scientific Method, on my part!). I read about the "3gb Switch", for 32 bit systems like my XP Pro, and used it (with a "userva=2560" adjustment). I also made FS9.exe "Greater than 2gb aware" by using "CFF Explorer". Since doing this I have happily flown the MD-11 without any issue...on l-o-n-g flights. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it was duplicate textures or the tweaking of my system which fixed it.

This will have no bearing if your 1. using a 64 bit OS, 2. and/or FSX.

Ive kind of solved the problem i only have 3 gig of memory and i have allsorts of programs running when i fly i generally paint an aircraft when im on longhaulers .

Yup, two ways to fix the OOM, config the fs9.cfg to read more ram or update your OS to a 64bit. I myself had to go with the 64bit because of my video card. 32bit wasn't reading my card . I have 4gigs on my MOBO and I got the Radeon 4870x2 and that has 2gb of its own ram, so 32bit is only limited to 3 I believe, anyhow, that fixed my OOM error, as to other errors, and there always is, i think I might have (knock on wood) fix.....you know what, Im not saying any more.....don't want to jinx myself.. 64bit = as much RAM as you can handle!!

I have OOM with almost EVERY flight I fly in FSX which is why I rarely, if ever, fly using FSX now and am back in FS9.

I have an almost identical setup to Brett, Vista Ultimate 32bit with 4GB on board DDR3 RAM and 2x ATIU Radeon 3870 video cards (not using Crossfire) with three monitors.

I too would love to solve my OOM errors as I really want to be able to fly in FSX however, I would prefer not to upgrade to a 64bit OS as my copy of VISTA is not even 6 months old.
