EVENT: OLYMPICS 2024 ***MEDALS AWARDED!***

Postby AS37 Norm Edwards » 07 Jun 2024 01:54

The time has come again for AirSource to rise to the challenge in conveying athletes, support teams and patriotic supporters to head off to the Olympics, this year to be held in France.

The format will be different to past Olympics events in that it will be conducted in two phases.
Phase A will consist of Crew Pass flights to France before the Olympics start and Phase B will consist of Crew Pass flights from France once the Olympics have concluded.

At the time of this announcement 176 countries will attend the Olympics but 175 Crew Pass flights will be created (France won’t be flying to itself!).

 Phase A flights will be posted very soon and will consist of 75 flights and will expire 24th July 2024 – when competitions start.

 Phase B flights will be posted at the conclusion of the Olympics 11th August 2024 which will consist of 100 flights and will expire 31 October 2024.

There will be an awards system for pilots logbooks in place as has been the case in past Olympic events as follows:
 Bronze Medal – pilots must complete at least 2 flights to France (Phase A flights) AND 6 flights from France (Phase B flights) in order to receive the logbook medal and $V8000.
 Silver Medal – pilots must complete at least 4 flights to France (Phase A flights) AND 8 flights from France (Phase B flights) in order to receive the logbook medal and $V12000.
 Gold Medal – pilots must complete at least 6 flights to France (Phase A flights) AND 10 flights from France (Phase B flights) in order to receive the logbook medal and $V16000.

Crew Passes (CP’s) will be set up separately in two series so look for these series codes in the Crew Pass Gateway section:
 Phase A flights: “OLYMPICS2024-TO”.
 Phase B flights: “OLYMPICS2024-FROM”. https://air-source.us/operations/crew_p ... S2024-FROM

I will be coordinating the event and should the CP numbers fall short I will post more. Any questions, please post in this thread.

As usual, we set up events for your enjoyment so have fun and pitch in!

Norm,

This question may come up for clarity - but does a "to France" flight that does not land in Paris still count as a "to France" flight?

MHLM to KATL. This flight is not "to France" however is it considered one of the Olympic "to" flights, so this counts toward a medal, correct?

Hi Tom. Yes that would count. The principle I apply is that the pilot is conveying passengers at least for a leg of their two leg flight to Paris. I'm hoping that in two leg flights our pilots will carry the passengers onward to land in Paris - to complete the job ;)

Just finished my flight ATL-CDG, was filling out PIREP when my computer crashed. Do I have to redo that flight? Thanks

Hello - I was able to locate the flight, it uploaded but like you said the PIREP did not fully complete. It is now filed. Please check it to be sure all looks correct.

Jet Blue flight from MGGT to KJFK dept. is listed as 1110 with arrival at 0550. That flight leaves in real life at 2310 with arrival at 0550. Can that be corrected or fly it as listed on the pass. Thanks.

Hi. A typo error on my part. You can use 2310 as the departure time, no problemo! :)

Could not file PIREP on AF443 SBGL-LFPG. It gave me an error message. I saved the data base file if that helps. Thanks.

A reminder for those participating, or intending to participate in this event, the flights "TO" Paris for the Olympics are set to expire 26th July so for those wanting to gain the rewards for the event, please refer to the original post in this thread for the requirements. The flights "FROM" Paris will be posted in August. Thanks to all those that have participated so far in this event and that it has been a fun event! :)

 As the Paris Olympics is coming to a close, all of the "FROM" Paris flights have been uploaded. Please refer to the original post in this thread for the requirements that lead to awards for this event. Note that there are no multi-leg routes loaded. For far reaching destinations, AirSource VPU has provided chartered flights with various types of aircraft. Ensure you use the correct aircraft type category if you wish to change aircraft type.

 If fuel stops are required enroute, please ensure that it is noted in the pilot pirep.

 Thank you to all of you that participated in the "TO" flights, and enjoy the "FROM" flights.

 Search in the CP Section for "OLYMPICS2024-FROM" to see the available flights. Have fun!
