I was intrigued by your post, so after a 14 segment series I finally made it to EKCH, only to find that I had just missed you. You had just left the crew area and were in the air on the way to BGBW. Maybe next time for a cup of coffee?
I checked the available flights and booked
Atlantic Airways - Faroe Islands - "Faroeline"
Departs: EKCH Kastrup
Arrives: EKVG Vagar
Distance 725 NM :: Duration 1 Hour 59 Mins
Flight No: 451 :: Equipment: A319
Equipment change to an Embraer 195, preflight and I was off. In the air I began data input for the approach and landing. 4,001 foot runway? I may have to dump fuel.

I arrive at the NOLSO holding pattern to find the weather is pretty crappy. I have not flown into this airport before and cannot see anything. As I turn to meet the localizer it improves a bit, but I cannot see the runway from 8nm out and 3,000???. To make matters worse there is heavy rain, a 33knt cross wind and icing conditions. I am having a bit of a sweaty palm moment as this is my first landing in this aircraft without the full automation assist. A 4,000??? runway is going to require perfect execution or it is missed approach for me. (I start fretting about having dumped some fuel

The first bit of good luck happens as I get a visual of the runway at 1,400 MSL, 180??? before the MDA. I can land! Woot! The passengers are cheering! Hell, even the goats in cargo are bleating their hearts out with joy! True to the caution, we get our butts kicked just after passing VG, with some pretty bad turbulence. Almost hit the TO/GO button there.

Things settled down and I got the aircraft on the tarmac after a little struggle with the final course correction in the cross wind, full stop with about 50??? remaining. The goats can sleep tonight???.
