Wilco A380v2

Postby AS380 Mark Richards » 15 Jun 2012 05:33

HI team

Deciding I wanted to play with an A380 and fly some of the great routes that she is now flying, I bought the Wilco A380v2 last night but low and behold it crashes my sim EVERY time I try to open it.

FSX, Win7 64 bit

I suspect the issue is being on 64bit OS but you'd think that in this day and age that developers would be able to cope with 64bit OS.

Anyone had any luck getting this addon working in FSX with 64bit OS and if so, how?

Otherwise, can anyone else recommend a good A380?

Mark

Hi Mark, I was using Wilco's A380v2 just yesterday without any problem using 64-bit. I remember having problems with it on my old computer, but now I have an i7 it works just fine. Unsure if that's of any relevance given i'm not much of a putortech :?

I tried the 777 from Wilco and have stayed away ever since that fateful purchase just not up to scratch

Well ironically, I've just installed two new SSDs, one for the OS and one just for FSX and thought I would try reinstalling the A380 on the new drive and low and behold, it works!

Did a flight today from BKK-HKG and it was ok. It's typical Wilco standard but it's good enough to fly every now and then if I feel like doing an A380 route or flying a "set it and forget it" type flight but I've certainly seen better.

Ive always wanted an A380 but didn't hear good things about the Wilco VC.

I wonder if it would be possible to merge the Airbus X Extended VC with an A380 model. It would need to copy an A380 air file and majorly edit the config and fuel burn but would be a nice VC

The MCDU would probably calculate everything totally wrong though :(
