Active Sky Evolution - would you recommend it?

Postby as136roy » 27 Nov 2010 02:21

Hi all!

I'd just like to as your opinions/reviews about Active Sky Evolution. I think it's a great wx program compared to the default FSX wx. I'm quite a payware fan from planes (PMDG, LDS) to cockpit sounds (FDC Live Cockpit) to ATC (RC4) to flight planning (FSBui;d2) and I have a registered copy of FSUIPC.

My concern is that does this program have significant FPS impact on FS.

I would appreciate all your suggestions.

Hi,

I'll stay out of this one, but did you read the AVSIM review last week?

While Jim has to stay out of this, I'm proud to be a HiFi Customer and NEVER fly a flight without ASE running. To me, other than FSUIPC, a real world weather generator is an absolutely essential piece of kit for any serious (or not so serious) simmer and you cannot go past ASE!

The AVSIM review says it all:

What I Don't Like About Active Sky Evolution
  • Not very much really. There are of course one or two things which require one to make adjustments to FSUIPC and make some decisions as to how and in what way one will depict things if some other add-ons are part of the FS set up, but given the breadth of options ASE covers and the fact that there are so many things it could potentially affect in a positive way, any tweaks which might prove necessary to benefit from all that make such concessions easy to live with.

Thank you guys for the comments. I just bought ASE and tried a flight with it from RCTP-VHHH. I couldn't believe the way ASE works flawlessly for FSX. My FPS took no hits and even have improved frame rates.

Jim Skorna - one of our own is also a team member for ASE. They did a great job!

I would recommend this wx program for those who take their flight simming seriously and to the next level.

I never fly without ASE in use. It is one of a few 'must have' utilities that I consider essential to flying FSX in it's full capability and use.
