FS9 PSS/JF 777 vs. Wilco/Feelthere 777?

Postby vic365 » 31 Jul 2009 18:01

Has anybody done a comparison of these two payware aircraft?

I have the JF/PSS 757 and I find the graphics tech in the 2D cockpit has the same issues with FPS hit that the Wilco 737 PIC does, very slow at busy addon airports. Note that I can be at the same airport in the much newer PMDG aircrafts without the large FPS hit when in the 2D cockpit. The Wilco 737 is helped by being able to load a 2D only model. The other thing that helped the Wilco 737 was adding the "PanelAsTexture=0" line in the [DISPLAY] section of the FS9.cfg...don't know why that helps but it does, immensely!

The JF version of the PSS 757 removed the ability to run a pure 2D model (why would they do that, it was already there?) so I'm forced to disable the 757 VC with a hex editor and add 2D view BMPs to replace the ones which will go away when VC is disabled (sigh!). Does either of the 777's allow a 2D only model?

Although modeled systems are usually my biggest concern for aircraft addons (I love a detailed start up), the ability to NOT feed a resource hungry VC which I'll never use may trump that.

Any thoughts?

I went ahead with the JF/PSS 777. I added some 2D views from a 777 panel by Greetmir Goodeguard as I fly 2D in everything but open cockpit/acrobatic aircraft.
