I'm just curious.

If you don't mind answering, how much money have you spent on payware? I've looked into some planes mainly PMDGs' and they are more than I originally paid for flight simulator. Thanks

PMDG is very proud of what they have. Thet are really good, but I have to admit that they are over my level. I don't need that much realism.

Payware is usually between 25 and 50 bucks. I would be scared to guess how much I have invested in planes and scenery between FS9 and FSX.

Its really just like any hobby, it costs money. My brother-in-law is a hunter. He spends several hundred if not a couple of thousand dollars a year to shoot animals. (4 wheeler was 7 grand) I don't have a problem with hunting, I just choose to spend my money on something different.

I have several hundred add-ons for flight sim. And now you have me thinking about how much it actually costs :? Don't tell my wife  she would kill me!

Over the 5 1/2 years I've had FS2004, probably a couple thousand dollars. And that doesn't count the new PC ($1500ish) I built this past May...although I needed that for more than just FS.

I'm a total payware junkie now. I'm spoiled about using all but the best freeware.

I really don't have a definitive number handy. I've probably spent $1,500 (at least) on add-on payware aircraft, scenery, mesh, environment, etc., the latest being the PMDG MD-11. Add to that the hardware...2 systems to run the progressively more demanding FS versions, A $2,700 Alienware and now a $2,100 home built. Yoke, pedals, throttles...sheesh! Add to that, also, my planned future purchases, a payware 747, 757, 777, A319-20-21...the list goes on. All in all I will probably cross the 5 digit number this year...and I haven't even thought about FSX...I could never afford to have the same amount of quality addons for it!

I have spent hundreds of ??s $s on add-ons. Aircraft, scenery, tools.

I do not regret it.
When I started with FS in 2000, it was the bare bones FS98. Then I discovered FS websites, VAs and add ons.

Half of it I don't use anymore and from time to time I have a great time with stuff that is free!! :D

I'm Mark and I bought my last payware product on Monday :D

I'm a card carrying member of payware-anonymous and proud of it.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on payware aircraft, scenery, logging tools, weather programmes, time sync software, FSUIPC, WideFS, websites, etc over the nearly 20 years I have been simming and I don't regret any of it.

Not to mention the thousands of dollars that I have spent on PCs, pedals, yokes, throttles etc to keep up with the latest revolutions in technology.

The way that I look at it, FS is my hobby. If my hobby was racing motor cars, I'd be spending a lot more on parts, repairs, travel etc. If my hobby was still real world flying, I'd be spending 1,000s on lessons, and aircraft charters etc. It is all relative, I spend money on what I enjoy doing, and FS is just one of them!

That sums it up for me as well. Between this new computer I have now for flight simming and all the payware I have, probably spent close to $3000. Worth every penny of it for the best experience.

I am not knocking freeware, I have a ton of it as well and it's just as good if not better than some of the payware out there today. I think it is awesome that developers make some of their wares free for the people out there. It's a great way of giving back.
