I just purchased this new MD-11 from Sky Simulations its there first attempt at designing a plane .

First impressions are impressive its looks good the panel looks pretty much like the real deal , but then once you start to get into flying it everything soon changes.

To start with the FMC is only partionally functional , you cant load flightplans into it and only some of the buttons work .
The Auto-pilot is a bit messy if you want to fly in nav-gps mode or nav1 and the vertical speed indicator wont work or the aircraft wont climb .

After some minor changes in the Aircraft.cfg everything seems to be fine but for $32 its a bit too expensive , but it depends on taste i guess

I've come close to buying it, but I've seen some the same reports that you mention. I want a decent MD-11 for FS9, PMDG seems to have switched theirs over to FSX. Hopefully they will reconsider!!!

If you can't load flightplans into the FMC how are you loading flightplans, hopefully not manually.

Leemazz any good suggestions for a DC-10F ?

I use Aerosims classic freighters dc-10 its a good plane to fly and there are lots of repaints for it or if you want a free dc-10 try SGAs

Hey Lee, how did that patch work out for the Sky MD-11 ??

It makes it too heavy its hard to get it off the runway with flaps 15 and the stab setup as well . its changed the flaps settings to the real settings.

Dont know about the nose dive when it captures the glidescope i will tell you when i land

Basically it now feels like it is way over weight but it does look fantastic but like they say looks are not everything , there will be another patch , no question

It seems there is a slight improvement, still has a very nose heavy tendency though

Yes thats a better way to describe it thing is though the MD-11 is tail heavy and climbs like a rocket , not the sky MD-11 its still over priced

I wish Pmdg would get there finger out and release there MD-11 it will be a beast.

The fuel still needs work he says the patch gives it a range of 7000+ miles, im 5000 miles down with not much fuel left i think you might get 5800 miles max range out of it

Yep, I think it's been at least 18 months since PMDG announced the MD-11. I thought I saw somewhere that it is only going to be for FSX also. If that's the case I won't buy it for awhile, the only FSX flying I'm doing is some ASHA flights in Indonesia. Any type of traffic or densly populated area's bring FSX to it's knee's. At least for me.

Pmdg will be for both versions their not pleased about the people who were spreading the rumour , its been too long now and will probably be a major disappointment for everybody when it comes out , i really hope it isnt

Lee,

I went ahead and got it. After reading the manual and going over the systems, I decided to take it on a short hop. Flaps 15, your right tail heavy, did not want to fly, and I loaded it half full. The Autopilot needs some work, it seems to want to do the opposite sometimes of what it shows.

One thing I don't see in the manual, anyway to change from Kilograms to LBS ??

It does look good though, just needs some minor tweaking. Version 1.1 is not the answer. But I can live with it.

Yeah the problem with the nav button on the autopilot is a bit tricky but after a few times you suss out to right click just to the right of the button
