Hi,
is it possible to add the Cessna 208 Grand Caravan Floatplane into the list of Aircraft you are able to PIREP a flight for?
Regards,
Simon.

Hi Tom,
When I fly it as an alternative aircraft on a scheduled flight the FSX model Maule M-7-260C is not available to select as the aircraft flown??

Simon.

Hello Simon,

I'm not sure if the Maule M-7-260C is a valid scheduled airline aircraft? Are there any examples of one being used in real world?

Hi Tom,
There are already several Maule versions available in the Pirep aircraft list, one of which I have used to post several flight reports when flying scheduled Cessna flights in Alaska. Is that breaking the Airsource rules if there are no real scheduled Maule flights?

Simon.

Its always been a grey area and something that can cause confusion. What is the scheduled aircraft that is on the airlines schedule?

Hi Tom,
The Cessna C208 Grand Caravan, lots of scheduled flights are available for this aircraft in the geographical areas I would like to fly my Maule in. According to the Airsource Aircraft Selection regulation, pasted below, "Larger or smaller aircraft are permitted only if they qualify for runway and/or range specification." I would only choose flights that satisfied this requirement,

2.0.3.0 Aircraft selection
The only division in which aircraft substitutions are allowed is the SCHEDULED DIVISION. As always try to match the simulator aircraft to the flight plan aircraft. If the aircraft specified in the published flight plan is not available for the simulator, attempt to match as closely as possible the weight, speed, passenger capacity and range of the aircraft to that of the flight plan aircraft. Larger or smaller aircraft are permitted only if they qualify for runway and/or range specification. For example: If the flight plan calls for a Boeing 717 and the only aircraft available to you is a Boeing 767 (much larger), you are permitted to use the 767 as long as the arrival runway length is adequate for safe landing within 767 specifications.

Regards,
Simon.

Hi Tom,
I guess the smaller Cessna Scheduled flights would be a better fit for the Maule?? What do you think?

Simon.

Hi Tom,
I don't have a Cessna 207 so I should be within the rules to fly their Scheduled flights in the Maule. They seem to be very similar aircraft? There is a Maule M7 in the PIREP list, so I could use that and you don't need to add yet another Maule to the list??

Simon.

Thanks for the info, the M-7-260C is very similar in size to the Cessna 207 as they are both L1P (L) category aircraft (the Maule M7 is not similar though in my opinion). So I've added the Maule M-7-260C.
