Aircraft

Traveling up the West Coast of South America, the Andes Mountains will be to our East. Eventually we will reach Central America where we'll follow the Panama Canal and head Northwest into Mexico. Our next legs take us back into the United States along the beautiful West Coast into the Pacific Northwest and just touching Alaska before heading East across Canada. Our journey ends rounding the Western portion of Lake Superior and back into KSAW where we'll knock back some cold ones and tell tall tales of our flying exploits.

Ive been looking at the DEPL catagory of aircraft we can choose from and to be honest regarding availability of aircraft for fsx of good quality a massive ZERO aircraft to fly .

Im sorry but aircraft ported over from FS2002 and FS2004 just take all the fun out of it as its not made for fsx so does not work correct . Ive used these aircraft before and gauges fail to work and strange behaviour from the aircraft

If anybody knows of any good addon aircraft which are made for fsx and fit in with the DEPL catagory then post them here please

Let me know what you think as I've been wondering what to fly myself.

Lee/Mark,
I've been planning to use the RealAir Beech Turbine Duke for this trip. One of the best FSX aircraft out there.
It's a non -jet event so I thought any twin prop (with the necessary range) was acceptable ?

You are correct. Any twin prop (non-jet engine) is acceptable for the event.

Im sure this will go by catagory , Convairs fall into the DEPL catagory which is large twin prop and there is not much to choose from , mainly vintage stuff .

As for the Lockheed C-27 its a great model easy to fly but the flight controls feel very aggressive when making a turn , its very responsive . Im going to give it a shot with this one from Simmarket im a bit rusty with the props so i could have just been me trying to throw it around like my MD11 . Its a nice looking bird like a smaller up-to-date C-130 its got good range an easy to use autopilot for 9 euros its a bargain

Can I clarify, are we able to fly turboprops eg JS41 for this event. I only ask as DEPL is mentioned above but the bids say any DETL aircraft.

Thanks

Phillip

Hey Phillip,

Turboprops are fine as well. Basically if it has 2 engines with a propeller on each one you're good to go.

Cheers Michael. I've not found a way yet to put props on my B767 engines to disguise it so will head around the tour setting fire to JS41 ones!

I've decided to pick something a little different for this event, the Douglas B26 Invader - great old aircraft that has grunty PW radials.. that really push it along :)

I chose the Calclassics Martin 4-0-4. Not sure I fully understand how to optimize power settings on this supercharged twin piston.
