ASHA | AIRLIFT MAJOR

Pre-requisites

To be promoted to Airlift Major all of the following criteria must be met:

1. Minimum of 6 months in the rank of Airlift Lieutenant (however accelerated promotion may occur)

2. Demonstrated skill in creating, saving and migrating flight schedules

3. Demonstrated skill in managing allocated aircraft and deploying those aircraft in a timely manner in response to emergency exigencies

4. Demonstrated activity in the ASHA forum in assisting new pilots and answering queries within the sphere of their knowledge




Airlift Major Duties

In addition to those duties as prescribed in the Airlift Lieutenant Job Description document. The Airlift Major is expected to:

1. Provide guidance and advice to newly appointed Airlift Lieutenants

2. Maintain vigilant watch over real life humanitarian situations within their own allocated continent as well as those continents allocated to Airlift Lieutenants within their own Region

3. Submit advice to their respective Wing Commander that they will be away on leave and their likely return to duty date

4. Provide monthly sitreps to their respective Wing Commanders of current active Operations within their own continent and those of Airlift Lieutenants within their respective region, and further provide forecasts for routine operations that are up and coming

5. Book aircraft for future scheduling by using the ASHA Aircraft Booking System.

6. Peruse response to queries within the ASHA Forum that Airlift Lieutenants have responded to, and provide guidance if required or on occasion

7. Act as temporary Wing Commander within their respective Region should the incumbent be absent on leave

8. Any other responsibility that has been so directed by their respective Wing Commander

These duties are not meant to be exhaustive and may be adjusted by the Division Commander or by recommendation of the respective Wing Commander.
