ASHA | REGIONAL AIRLIFT WING COMMANDER

In addition to those duties as prescribed in the Airlift Major Job Description document. The Airlift Wing Commander is expected to:

1. Effectively manage through consistent leadership those continents that are under their respective command

2. Direct and or delegate stand-alone management of continents by those officers holding the rank of Airlift Major

3. Identify on a required basis, those areas of administration within their Wings, that require adjustment in order to allow effectiveness of their Wings as required

4. Ensure operations that are active within their Wings are adequately supported by relevant aircraft types

5. Directing without delay, Priority 1 thru 3 level Operations, by means of flight scheduling and correctly allocation of Operation type

6. Provide guidance and advice to newly appointed Airlift Majors as required

7. Make recommendations to the Deputy Division Commander for replacement aircraft, or additional aircraft entailing full justification for such replacement or additional aircraft

8. Make recommendations to the Chief of Staff on any other matter that is significant and that affects the smooth running of their respective Wing

9. Review monthly reports submitted by Airlift Majors (or Lieutenants) and action accordingly, referring only to the Deputy Division Commander and Chief of Staff should it be a policy related matter, or a matter which may require Division Commander action of significance

10. Maintain vigilant watch over real life humanitarian situations within their own allocated Wing and ensuring that appropriate response is made by SDO???s within their command.

11. Submit advice to the Chief of Staff that they will be away on leave and their likely return to duty date

12. Provide bi-monthly sitreps to the Deputy Division Commander of current active Operations within their area of responsibility of schedules currently running and anticipated from officers under their command

13. Peruse response to queries within the ASHA Forum that Airlift Majors and Lieutenants have responded to, and provide guidance if required or on occasion

14. Any other responsibility that has been so directed by the Division Commander

These duties are not meant to be exhaustive and may be adjusted by the Division Commander as required
