Better Graphics

Postby cbrdriver » 15 Aug 2015 14:44

Hi, everyone. Thanks for having me.
For years, I've built systems progressively more powerful with AMD being my processor of choice, mainly because of budget. I have now built a system with the i5 4690k bumped up to 4.3 stable and sweet.
I'm seeing consistent fps around 70 with sliders to the right and even with 100% land and sea and air traffic.
I've installed nvidia inspector and followed the pretty consistent settings found all over the net, and my NGX is looking pretty sweet, but I'm still seeing a bit of that Lego effect on my wings and airport markings.
What's the best way to get rid of that? (Short of hardware change)

Intel i5 4690k 4.3ghz
Gigabyte Z97M-DS3H mb
MSI GeForce GT 740 GPU with 1gb
Windows 7 64b

Hi John-

Welcome to Air-Source.

I'm with you, I have never *fully* been able to get rid of the jaggies for some reason. I've just learned to live with them.

Isn't that frustrating?

One of the main reasons I decided to go Intel.

Thanks for the reply.

Instead of a straight line down the length of the wing, I get the broken lines looking like the wing was built with Lego blocks.

All the advice I was seeing for Nvidia inspector was telling me to uncheck it.

I'll try that tonight, then post a follow up pic.

Thanks.

EDIT:. . .
No joy

Well, my Inspector seems to be broken right now. Can't change any settings :(

Here's where mine differs (might help)

Antialiasing - Setting = 16x[16x CSAA (4 color + 12 cv samples)]
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling = 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling

Anistropic Filtering Mode = Although I know it should be at User Defined/Off, mine is at Application controlled
Anistropic Filtering Setting = 16x

Also, in FSX:
Filtering = Anistropic
Anti-Aliasing = Unchecked

Hmm...FSX looks better than I remember (haven't flown it in a while), mainly went back to FS2004

Don't fly the PMDG but, haven't seen your issue on any of my aircraft (default, iFly, Level-D and various Feelthere/Wilco).

Remembering your settings, just in case, give mine a shot and see if they help.

I'm sure the lines are drawn the same wether we're talking ifly or pmdg.

Will try.
Thanks

Possibly, but PMDG has creative ways to work their magic inside and outside of the sim, so there's a slight chance they could alter something for performance...but with that said they would likely put that into a setting within the FMC or something.
