FS9 crashes to desktop 4 miles from KPHL

Postby sadams » 29 Oct 2006 20:10

It was a flawless flight from KHVN (Tweed New Haven Co)

Visibility was good and there were no glitches or low frames to cause me to want to reset the flight. I had just done the G.U.M.P. check and gotten the green light from the tower and BANG! No more Sim, just crashed to the desktop. don't know why, it's never happened with this particular Sim before. But hay, if you fly long enough in the virtual Sky's, anything can happen.

Hi there, thanks for posting the message. This happens to me on the odd occasion to, and my FS usually only crashes on finals... i've put it down to modifications i've made to airfields using AFCAD, seems sometimes the ATC.DLL file gets confused... don't think there is a quick fix for it but its damned annoying when you have had a long flight and looking forward to the landing!

You are not alone. Happens to me also and pretty much only on finals.

Peter Dowson's (of FSUIPC fame) autosave is a good thing. :)

Used to happen to me from time to time

It only happened flying in "Full Screen " mode, and only on my lap top - since then I fly with the desk top just visable and its never happed since - maybe its a memory problem on lower level pcs

Make sure you don't have 2 FSUIPC's together. I found a FS9 FSUIPC in my FSX. Boy, was I surprised.

Mine seems to crash on either outbound taxi or climb, which doesn't make it quite so bad like at the end of a long flight.
Even so, it's still very very annoying!
