RIP, Roy Loucks

Postby AS 2 Tom Little » 10 May 2015 03:29

The management team has just learned that Roy Loucks has passed away. Mark Richards and Michael Johnson were able to share the facebook post with me via e-mail and they have communicated their condolences with Roy’s Family through Roy’s facebook page, on behalf of all of us here at AirSource.

Roy really loved aviation, and took pride in his membership here at AirSource, and we cherish his countless contributions through the years. We will miss you Roy.

This is a very sad day to hear this news about Roy.I had the pleasure of meeting Roy with my wife at the Rain Forest Café in Niagara Falls, Ontario. We had dinner there and then proceeded to have a great evening of going to the casino and having a GREAT time. I have spent hours enjoying conversations with Roy on Skype or Messenger about Air Source, simming and life in general. A little game Roy and I used to play on each other was waiting till the other was landing and placing that Skype or Messenger call to throw each other of our landings. Roy truly was a GREAT friend and I will miss our hours of chatting on Skype. We have lost a great guy and I have lost a great friend. RIP my friend, you will never be forgotten.

Like everyone else, I was stunned to hear this news yesterday, just a few hours after Roy passed.

Roy has been an inspiration to many of us here at AirSource and he leaves behind a legacy that few will ever come close to meeting.

Roy has always been "Mr Schedules" for all of us and his shoes will be very hard ones to fill.

May the jet streams be strong where you lay to rest.

I cannot even begin to convey the gratitude I have for Roy..... He was a wonderful friend and a great mentor for me when I first came on board AirSource. Like Greg, I have many memories of chatting with Roy on Yahoo IM, through email and on our Round the World trips we took.

I'll never forget the first time I updated Delta Air Lines in the Scheduled Division; having watched every single one of his videos on YouTube (which I am saving locally in case anything happens to his YouTube channel) and still frakked it up in a major way.

He managed to fix my errors in a matter of maybe 30 minutes, sent me the files and insisted I still get credit for doing the work when I got them updated on the server. Look in dictionary and you will see Roy's picture under the definition of "gentleman".

Thank you for all the guidance Roy, and all the great laughs and fun we had together. May you always have a swift tailwind and clear blue skies in your eternal travels sir!

I moved house over a couple of weeks back and haven't had internet access until just today, so I was saddened to hear of Roy's passing.

Roy had been with AirSource a very long time (joined 11 October 2001) and played an integral part within the management team here as VP Scheduled Division. He devoted literally thousands of hours of his own time to create schedules for our pilots to fly and what we see today is in large part due to his devotion to AirSource and the thrill he had in helping anyone who had a question to ask or a request to make.

I recall about a decade ago flying online with Roy and others (Jeff Summers and Ron Reed will remember this) having a lot of fun flying around the countryside at low level and generally having fun like kids with new toys! This was Roy, a fun guy with a passion for the hobby and an undeniable love of helping people.

I know the Executive Management Team as a whole will miss his contribution immensely.

RIP Roy.
