Humanitarian Flights Start-up

Postby AS37 Norm Edwards » 11 Jan 2013 13:50

After a period of review under Project Samaritan and a careful look at feedback received by EMT, humanitarian flights have now become available for pilots to fly. This is an interim measure until an alternative system is introduced as a new feature in the future.

Wherever the disaster or humanitarian need is in the world a dedicated Humanitarian Flight Designer (HFD) will create the relevant bid flight and post it in the Bid Division under the Humanitarian Flights category - go here to see what is available for pilots to bid on http://www.air-source.us/Operations/BID ... p?CATID=49 . Progressively more flights will be added but that are of a realistic real-world current disaster or of a humanitarian nature only. Fictional flights will not be included.

Allocated HFDs are Henk Van de Meeberg (Commander HFDs), Roger Dean (Deputy Commander HFDs), Mark Richards and the undersigned. Any further HFDs will be added by EMT if or when required.

Whether it is flying a helicopter to dump water or retardant on an out of control fire, or the delivering of water, food or medical supplies to a disaster area, the Humanitarian Flights category in the Bid Division will be the place to go for those types of missions.

Dust off those old aircraft that have been in your hangar for a while, you may well need it here as any type of aircraft may be used by the HFD to complete the mission at hand.

Norm, Henk, Mark and Roger, THANK YOU for all of your efforts in getting the HFD flying. Anyone who wishes to enjoy some ASHA type flights can now do so!
