Postby AS 2 Tom Little » 24 Dec 2010 13:03

It is with great pleasure on this Christmas Eve 2010 that I would like to announce our GRAND OPENING of the long-awaited General Aviation Division. A huge thank you to the EMT team for extensive testing through the many months past. The GA division is still in it's infancy but we could wait no more to share a brand new experience that our union may enjoy!

Cool! Thanks for putting this into place. It could well become one of my favorite destinations at AirSource!

One question -- how are lease rates determined? The only reason I ask is that I see a single-engine Cessna 172 leases for around $258/hr, while the twin engine Beechcraft Duchess is only $193/hr. Seems a bit counter-intuitive.

Again, congratulations and well done to all the folks who made the GA division possible!

Thanks Ian - The lease rate is strictly based on the value of the aircraft. The higher the value, the higher the lease rate will be.

Thanks for the clarification, Tom. It wasn't a criticism, just curiosity. Can't wait to start spending my V$!

And importantly as well, the lease rate on a NEW LEASE aircraft is higher than an existing aircraft. So if you're the first to fly the aircraft, it will cost you more (you get the new plane smell!) but you also get to choose where it the aircraft is based (i.e. your departure airport on a new lease). For existing aircraft, you get a lower rate but you HAVE to start your flight where the last pilot left the aircraft.

Hello,

Great idea this GA division.
I already made use of it.
Is it not possible in the future to set up a kind of avialble cargobase for the involved airports,so that we can make money with the GA by flying cargo?

Thanks,

With the 100 hours inspection already pasted the on just the engine of the Cessna that I rent, I was wondering who - what - when - where does the maintenance get completed on GA aircraft?
I still have some skill sets and all of my own tools to help out the cause. Is there a Maintenance Facility for GA Aircraft repair and maintenance?
