OPERATIONS PRIORITIES

Postby AS37 Norm Edwards » 07 Sep 2006 10:05

The following priority categories will be assigned to the generic operations.
CATEGORY 1 Complete devastation has occurred in the affected area. Major loss of life has occurred. Severely displaced population, Very little, if any, local infrastructure and support services operating. Predominant supplies including medical, food, water, shelter supplies, aid workers, power generators, earthmoving equipment, sanitation plants, water pumps.

CATEGORY 2 Moderate levels of devastation that doesn???t warrant a Category 1 rating. Loss of life has occurred, but is on the decline. Local support services are in place, but at reduced capability. Predominant supplies, food, water, shelter supplies medical supplies, aid workers.

CATEGORY 3 Low levels of devastation that don???t warrant a Category 1 or 2 rating. Risk to life loss is low, but significant concern is apparent in terms of building on established local support services. Predominant supplies, building materials, tools, construction workers, mechanical equipment, firefighting equipment.

CATEGORY 4 Widespread general aid required. Established international aid organizations have been operating in the area and require continued support. Listed as a country of concern (ref UN site for this eg Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Central America, eastern block countries, etc). Predominant supplies, Intl Aid Packages and supplies, Aid workers.

CATEGORY 5 Environmental Monitoring. Assessment in areas where increasing risks of damage to the environment is occurring eg deforestation, ozone depletion, ice cape research, oceangraphic research, volcanic etc. Predominant supplies, observation and monitoring equipment, high alt cameras, onboard specialist monitoring equipment, specialist personnel, scientists, environmental researchers.

CATEGORY 6 Resupply/Administration. Routine flights to established ASHA posts worldwide to deliver support equipment and supplies, deliver rotations of ???Virtual??? ASHA staff, pilots, support crews, ASHA Commanders inspection flights worldwide.

CATEGORY 7 Training. Designed to train and prepare new pilots, and provide refresher flights for qualified pilots. Missions not to be humanitarian related (categories assigned as above for that).

As will be quite noticeable is the move away from routine, mundane GSR flights, ie, we are not in the business of being an Intl Freight Company, when while at the same time on the other side of the world victims of disasters are suffering.... ergo... back to our core business.
