Air Source is proud to present its first event for 2014 - SOCHI 2014

The 2014 Winter Olympics got underway in Sochi, Russia on Friday and AirSource is now flying spectators to this winter wonderland on the Black Sea to see the Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics in action.

Flights from all over the world fly into Russia bringing spectators and media in for games. A significant number of flights arrive into one of Moscow's airports and then others 'shuttle' everyone down to the shorter runway in Sochi. Look carefully and you might even find some direct flights into Sochi.

All flights can be found in the BID DIVISION.

COMPETITION RULES:
  1. All flights MUST be flown using MyAAS
  2. Flights are to be flown between 07FEB14 and 24MAR14
  3. Flights should be flown in the aircraft type list or in the same category of aircraft (as found here)
  4. All pilots are to have fun!

AWARDS:
Pilots participating in this event will be awarded the following awards for their logbook and the bonus v$ into the AirSource pay log (in addition to the standard pay they receive for their flights). Awards and bonuses will be paid by 31MAR14.

  • BRONZE and $20000 - 21-30 hours flown
  • SILVER and $30000 - 31-40 hours flown
  • GOLD and $40000 - 41+ hours flown

All flights will be confirmed against the official Sochi flight history logbook which can be viewed at http://www.air-source.us/Operations/Log ... _SOCHI.asp.

Any questions, please ask.

I was asked a question on the AirSource Facebook page about return flights.

These will be added closer to the end of the games.

I think a big thank you to Roy for producing such a variety of flights in support of this event.
It must have taken a considerable ammount of time in research and application.
My best regards as always

Hello All

Approach and landing at Sochi URSS (at least the the rnwy I was landing on) rather tricky ie a lot of autopilot on and off ,ditto A thrott, ditto rapidly increasing panic , some rather hairy mountain dodging and hand flown landing .All went to produce a jolly good flying experience

Passengers just loved it!!!!!

HW
Shaken and exceedingly stirred.

Perhaps they should give a gold medal to the pilots who land successfully on a runway 24 approach. :)

Thanks for the compliment Roger, but this was a total team effort along with Mark, Norm and Alan also. Glad you're enjoying the event.

I would award anyone a gold for rwy 24. I have been landing visual rwy 6.
Roy I stand corrected and thank everyone involved in the preparation of this event.

Hi all

Following some feedback, the date of the event has been extended to 24MAR14.

The return legs have now been entered. Once again, get in quick to get some of these longer haul sectors.
