Postby Leemazz » 15 Jul 2020 19:30

So the all new Flight Simulator has a release date of Aug 18th , anybody Pre-ordered ?

Im not so sure it is all singing and dancing solve all our problems Simulator so i think i will wait for peoples views before i go and spend £110 on a flightsim with no real useful aircraft other than the 787 , 747 and A320 .

Interested to see peoples views and if they will jump from FSX , Xplane or P3Dv whatever they are up to

It's going to be an interesting but fun ride - as always is when a new FS comes out! Frankly, I'm still blown away by the fact Microsoft has stepped back into the market.

Me too to be honest Tom , it was a surprise , so far it looks amazing but mixed reviews when it comes to the serious side of things some say it is more like a game but i guess we will find out soon enough

I’m holding back until we get a proper idea as to what it like and until devs commit to it

A big question in many minds will be whether their computer will be able to handle the product. Check out this link which gives more details on system requirements.

No, you must have Win 10. There is no way around this and it is not going to change. Modern programs are going to ask for modern operating systems.

I pre-ordered and have been downloading the monstrous beast. Yeah a 600MB installer to download a 95GB to 100GB data file. YES, that's GIGABYTES! OI! And it doesn't like to be interrupted. :-(

Been trying to get back into the Sim for a while now. I FINALLY got a full setup. MSFS 2020 kind pushed me over the edge to really fully get going.

I mentioned a FlightSim Nav PC. It is not in the above post because I'm still building prepping it. Big thing is the mounting of the TV.

I didn't want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a special tripod to mount a monitor/tv so I got a cheaper camera tripod from Best Buy, found a quick release matching the existing one on Thingiverse, took measurements off the the two. Found an appropriate Vesa mount, imported the quick release and the mount into 3Ds Max. Mated the two together to get one piece and uploaded it to the printer.

Vesa Camera Tripod TV Mount in the 3D printer. 7 hours to go and I should be able to get the FlightSim Nav computer up and running. (heh by that time MSFS 2020 should be done downloading all of its files).

So hopefully in 7 hours I should have a serviceable mount for around $23.00. A lot better than $200 or so.

I got up and running with no problems (except the common problems with certain AC and a few 20,000' tall towers here and there LOL.

I fly on a Lenovo Legion notebook with graphics settings almost maxed. And a second HD for the sim. I run a cool pad underneath.

I haven't fired up FSX since I downloaded this baby. Miss my heli's, but not that much.
