Missing North Africa scenery

Postby Alan Turville » 18 Feb 2015 16:22

Hi Guys

I had a quick look at Agadir airport in Morrocco and I found I have no airport there ! The planes are on the ground sitting and moving on sand ! So I thought I would look at Tunis/Tunisia and found the same. I also have airports in Algiers, Gambia, Liberia,Namibia,Niger,Nigeria missing. I am running FS9 and have tried copying my Africa file from my back up FS9/scenery/Afri to my FS9 on local disc but its still the same. I suspect its an Afcad issue as there are no airport buildings/Runways and the problem is only in some African countries. Any ideas Guys/Gals ?

Did you deactivate any scenery areas?

No I haven't disabled any scenery but tried to add an Agadir scenery from http://www.freewarescenery.com/fs2004.html which I have done many times. When I re started FS9 it said an area number was missing and then continued to load, but I never made a note of the a missing number before it loaded or I could have got it from my back up HD. I just wondered if there was an file in FS9/scenery that covered North Africa eg: Afri

Either that, or your loading priority is off. I would hate to say this, but a re-install might be required.

Is it possible to just copy Africa scenery from install disc or from another PC?

Sounds like like one of the Folders in the scenery directory been deleted the folders are all numbered and they include the afcads for the airports , it sounds like you got one missing

Agadir is in <fs dir>\scenery\Afri\scenery\AP945210.BGL

Can you post up your scenery.cfg file? Actually, might be better to add it as an attachment due to the size.

Hey Joe....I found the problem I think. I read on an Avsim or Flight Sim forum where someone had a similar problem and someone suggested un ticking all the red ticks in the Addon Scenery and then add them back one at a time. After un ticking all the addon scenery, I had North African airports back, so after re red ticking the addon scenery boxes one at a time and restarting I narrowed it down to Dubrovnik airport addon ! I have now deleted it....Pity as it was quite good scenery. Hmmmmm maybe I could still have it and then simply un tick it when I do an Agadir or Marrakech flight

Glad to hear you have it working, Alan.

That's an option, just leave it disabled until you want to fly there.

Alan

Consider SceneryConfig Editor

http://fs-sceditor.sourceforge.net

I use it in FSX to reduce my OOM crashes but it's really handy for turning scenery on and off depending on where you fly and means you don't load memory hungry scenery if you're overflying it.

I group all my scenery by region or type to make it easy to find. You can mark any area as unable to turn off so that you don't turn off things you don't mean to.

Mark
