Payware FS9 A300 and A340?

Postby vic365 » 18 Jul 2010 22:13

I would like to hear your thoughts on any available payware Airbii. I'm looking for an A300 and A340 model. I'm not too keen on "Lite" products as I enjoy a more complex simulation.
Your suggestions?

Lee, the Simcheck model is for FSX only. The CLS version of the A300 I've found is a "Lite" model without much system detail. I may have to find a better, more detailed panel, if I try and go this way.

I have been looking at the PSS A340 package at JustFlight. It includes both the 340 and 330 (in both -200 and -300 variants). I realize those are older models but I have been very happy with PSS's 757 and 777. JF also sells their version of the A340-500, -600...actually the CLS product...but that is an "F-Lite" product with only limited system detail. There is also the Wilco package but I have not been as impressed with their products.

Thanks Lee!

I feel the same as you Vic . The stuff from cls is really basic stuff using default autopilot and navigation and never pan around a cls virtual cockpit its just too horrific for your eyes , as for the models though they are fantastic and well painted .

Like you Vic im unsure with feel there products ive never heard of people raging about their work like people do with pmdg or level-d or Csim

If I could find a panel for the A300...either with CIVA INS (as in the FSX Simcheck model) or a workable FMC (not sure what Airbus calls it or if it was even available in the "300") I could probably make do. I have the freeware ASHA A300 but must admit, as a 2D only pilot, not having 2D side views is a bit disconcerting. I know..."get over it"...LOL. It just happens to be a pet peave  I might look into merging some 2D side views. The main problem I have had with the ASHA A300's is the 2D panel being unreadable/unuseable in many parts...I'll post some screens of what I'm seeing after I complete Piedmont flight 16 in my DC3.

Hey Victor,

Here's an A300 and A310 for you to look at... it's a little dated but still pretty nice for freeware.

http://www.hnac.org/cms_prod/index.php

As of writing this I haven't installed it yet, but plan to sometime this week.

And do a search for "Pasquale Rinaldi's A340 panel" to use with Posky's A340.

I know you said complex payware, which these are not... just throwing out some options. Only payware that I know for what you have asked has already been mentioned... sorry.

Hope this helps you out in your quest,

-Dave

I just tried the ASHA A300-B2F...not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. The panel icons don't seem to work and I'm not sure what the bit about "copy your boeing737-400.air here.txt" is...but it sounds rather like it doesn't have it's own FDE? I'm just a picky SOB, I guess

The other, the "ASHA_Airbus_A300-620" gives me either a panel devoid of gauges...or no panel at all...depending on which "panel.cfg" I choose to use?

I think I will probably go with the PSS A340 package. It might be old but I fail to see why that matters...maybe only 4,500 rivets will be shown as opposed to 21,789??? . I'm not much on eye-candy...give me a plane and a flight deck that works with as much detail as possible and I'm happy. I rarely sit on the wing at FL370 and .836 mach, looking for missing details.

That leaves the entire A300 issue unsolved. I'm betting this will become a "home construct" of mine...with many different freeware "pieces" involved.

And now it appears I will have to wait on this...just to see?

You read it here first. There's a new improvement pack coming from Wilco Publishing for their Airbus Series (FSX/2004) : A318-A319-A320-A321-A330-A340. AVSIM has been told, "this pack will include stunning new features as well as improved existing systems. This improvement pack will be available separately for the different Airbus Series versions."

In 2007 Wilco Publishing released its Airbus Series and today Airbus Series v1 and Airbus Series v2 are still mentioned as the most advanced Airbus simulation for Microsoft Flight Simulator X/2004. Keep an eye on our front page as Wilco Publishing will be releasing more information to AVSIM soon."

Mentioned by who?? Ah well...when you live by developer's dollars...you may die by a lack of them, I guess. One of the reasons why I never pay much attention to Avsim or Flightsim's fantastic spoutings :P . Still...I guess it's worth seeing about. I still think the PSS 340 lies in my future but...I can be patient...when I absolutely have to be.

It's not Payware and it may not be to your liking, but I am just about done
working on a repaint of Thomas Ruths' A340-600 that I will be posting within
then next few days.
When it's out, give it a try and let me know of anything that I can do to improve
it. I would love you hear your suggestions.

I don't have FSX, kingsak and the only Thomas Ruth A340 I find is for FSX.

HNAC is very good for freeware.

PSS is still the best Airbus as far as I can see.
