Scheduled Div Question.

Postby milo221 » 15 Mar 2010 17:12

Hello,

I wanted to see if it would be possible to combine the "Search by Airline" and "Search by Aircraft Type" boxes? Looks like all that would need to be done is to add the choose an aircraft dropdown to the Search by Airlines selection. Making both the selections optional, but requiring one or the other and allowing both to be selected would be great. Hopefully that's not confusing.

My logic behind requesting this is if you want to search the database for all the Delta CRJ2 flights you can't do it currently, but this would allow searches like that to happen.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot, I didn't see a website suggestions area or I would have put it there.

Please let me know if you would like a different/better explanation.

Thanks for looking,

-Dave

Hello Dave,

I always try to weigh out the time to perform an update (coding pages) versus the actual usage and/or demand for that item. I've not to my recollection had this request before, and understand what you are looking for, but two questions (one of which you can answer)

1. Are there really that many airlines that would utilize this feature?

2. How many other members would like to see this feature?

It does start to get a bit "crazy" to program - the more options we add to search possibilities, however nothing is impossible!

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply... I think that it would be most usefull on the larger airlines (i.e. Delta, American, etc.) It makes sens on the airlines that have bigger, more diverse fleets.

I just thought it would make it easier that looking for a flight with Delta and seeing 29 pages of flights to wade through. :D

Maybe just an additional search box to that would be able to select first the airline and then populate the next dropdown with the available fleet choices (that way you wouldn't select an airplane that that airplane dosen't even operate, this would save a little time).

Maybe another option is to have an option to dump the results of what we currently have to some kind of searchable, sortable file (i.e. Excel). Just another thought I had.

I appreciate you asking questions and I would be happy to answer any more you would have.

Thanks,

-Dave

I'll add my two cents. I've had this feature available at another VA and it was very nice. It alows you to whittle down hundreds of flights to just a few very quickly.

Well Tom,

I guess there is little demand for this feature... or so it would seem. :D

I always think it never hurts to ask... 8)

Added this ability now. I eliminated the aircraft search page to prevent redundancy, and added the feature to search for airline, aircraft, or both. Enjoy!
