NEW PILOT WELCOME PACK

Postby AS37 Norm Edwards » 16 Jun 2009 10:07

I intend to introduce a Welcome Pack that will be sent to all new pilots that join AirSource. Given that there is a great deal of variety to offer new pilots, its purpose will be to summarise with an outline of what we have available, providing links to important areas that the pilot needs to read and any other information which is deemed useful to a new pilot.

The purpose of this post is to seek input from our AirSource members as to what you think should be included. Input is particularly encouraged from recently joined pilots, but I would value input from any pilot regarding those areas which you found either confusing or that requires some form of detailed explanation. Take into account that we do already have some guides in place for the Scheduled Division and also the ASHA Division which go into much more detail about those respective Division activities.

My target date for completing this Welcome Pack is 1 Jul 09, therefore please provide submissions no later than 26 Jun 09. Please feel free to contribute!

Most important is indeed a series of links per division where the new pilots can find the guides and other documents, and if possible what he/she should read first and what later can be read.
I like this very much, good idea!

I think a brief history of AirSource and what we have managed to accomplish over the years would be good. Quick explanation of each Division would be nice as well.

Thanks for the input thus far.

Just to remind, here is an opportunity for ALL AS members to contribute to something new! Don't hold back! 3 responses (as at today) from over 500 members is somewhat disappointing I must admit. Again, I encourage members to contribute and have a say. By doing so you are assisting those new pilots that join AS.

Thanks in advance!

  • A welcome from each VP Division, that can be generic.
  • Details about subscribing to the Email list for the daily update
  • Encouragement to join Forum with Name and AirSource number

I have all the points listed thus far from those that have contributed. I'm not intending to make it too big of a welcome pack. Noting of course that most of us have been around for a while, I can't actually remember what I found confusing because it was so long ago  Input from those that have joined in the last month or so would be ideal!

The 2 important points that pilots do wrong is Always fly at least once a month, unless on vacation, and fly your bid and ASHA flights before they expire.

Could we possibly get an email prior to getting booted if we haven't flown in 30 days?
I sometimes forget to file a flight.... I've been booted twice.
thanks

Lawrence,

Every "dedicated" member gets not only one, but THREE consecutive e-mails before getting their membership withdrawn. For the warning e-mails ("dedicated member") you must have flown at least 5 flights, otherwise after 30 days there is no warning. This has been the case for many years now.
