EMERGENCY!!!!

Postby bigrobmjca AS350 » 01 Feb 2009 20:50

HELP! I'm going missed approach at Miami, (flying in to start the WCT 09') in a Cessna Citation Soverign. I cannot stop this thing. I don't want to crash and loose this flight. Tried to land and pulled back up because I know there was no chance of stopping. Can't find the autobrakes and don't think I have reverse thrust. I think the normal brakes may be malfunctioning and I don't think this has reverse thrust. HELP!

According to AAS, you seem to have one helluva lot of fuel left onboard:

13056 Lbs 64.0% Remaining

Maybe you're too heavy...

stopped. I was all over the airport. I was just trying to steer clear of everything and not hit another building or jet. Praise God I got it stopped somewhere in the grass.

Cut the engines might be a problem with the aircraft software set the autobrake to max arm the spoilers and watch it stop in about two white lines . restart the engines and give a cheeky wink to the tower on the way past .

Alright. I've noticed that. How do I determine how much fuel I need?

Best thing to do is just set it to max till you get an idea of what you need try to make a note of it at the end of the flight what fuel is remaining .

I use FS Navigator, which figures out fuel consumption over the course of your flight plan.

I believe you are required to carry enough fuel to make it to your destination, then to your alternate, plus another forty-five minutes.

There have been some threads on the forums here about calculating fuel in more detail.

Question,

What was your approach speed?

If you come in to "hot" then most aircraft have a tendency to "float". Even if it performed fine during the approach, at about 50ft you hit a cushion of air that is formed by the downward motion of your aircraft hitting the ground and pushing you up.

In that case I have a tendency to push the stick forward and land it. That's impatience on my part and I'm schooling that out of me.

I remember one time hitting the ground at 250KTs.

Yeah... Didn't get that plane stopped on that runway. Or the next...

I do remember taking the 5 back to the airport, first, no second exit.

I'll notify the maintence personnel. Next time, you buy them the beers :)

Don't remember what my approach speed but let me put it this way. I was thinking about going online and looking at what the stall speed was.
